Richard Mille watch company was founded by Richard Mille –a very talented and enthusiastic person who devoted many years of his life to watch making. Before founding his own company he had been the director of a large company for 20 years, then he began working for Mauboussin where he had hold a variety of posts, up to the CEO of the watch department.
In 1998 he decided to stop being an employee. At that time he had a rich experience in watch making. The Baccarat watch that was released in the end of 2000 is his offspring. Mr. Mille worked a lot at creation of his own watch and he paid great attention to the achievements in automobile and aviation industries – the most advanced fields, from technological point to view.
Richard Mille had the goal to create a watch of superior quality In his projects he fulfilled optimal technical decisions, using really unique processing methods. While many watch brands are eager to stand out of the pack, to offer new and very unusual models, Richard Mille managed to abstain from this competition. He makes not just watches. His watches are unique chronometers that are absolutely different from other timekeeping devices. The bridges of his mechanisms simulate plate distributor of sports car engines. This original decision allows to increase reliability and flexibility of the construction without making it heavier.
Richard Mille is not afraid of using new, unique materials, such as ARCAP alloy, titanium and ceramic. Of course, production of such watches is very expensive, but these fantastic watches are really worth it.
The first Richard Mille watch model was released in 2001. Before it was presented to public, the company’s founder had subjected the watch to a variety of tests, that had proved that the new watch model is maximum reliable and that it could have success with the buyers.
In the same year Mille presented new TourbiLLon RM002 model that then was replaced by the model RM002. All these new models that were created on the edge of watch making and automobile industry became the examples of absolutely new technical and aesthetic decisions.
In 2002 the brand released TourbiLLon RM 003 model equipped with GMT function. Then the brand presented Chronograph RM 004 model. In the same year the brand took the decision to enrich the collection with new line of women’s watches.
In 2004 Richard Mille released simple, but technically impeccable Automatic RM 005 model with new rotor. Also the brand released TourbiLLon RM 006 in limited edition of just 20 pieces. This was the world’s first watch with carbon nano fiber . Among the novelties there was Chronograph RM 008 with tourbillon and split-function.
In 2005 the brand released the new women’s RM 007 model.
