TAG Heuer's SLR for Mercedes-Benz

TAG Heuer in the World of Sports Racing
Throughout its history TAG Heuer has always been closely related to the world of motor sports. The brand's watchmakers applied their matchless creativity and technical sophistication to elaborate some truly innovative timepieces in the horology world. Since the very first days of Tag Heuer's foundation, the brand has reached the top in developing sports chronographs widely used in the prestigious professional racing. These timepieces were rightfully appreciated by famous racers and their fans for their fabled accuracy and multi-fuctionality.
TAG Heuer and Mercedes-Benz
TAG Heuer took the challenge to develop a limited number of exclusive chronographs with the aim to mark the partnership with a mythical automobile producer - Mercedes-Benz.
The world of watch-making was stirred up by the tremendous success of the first SLR Chronograph watch, Caliber 36-R, which was initially presented at Basel-world in 2004. It inspired the brand for developing the TAG Heuer SLR watch for Mercedes-Benz that once again proved the brand's watch-making expertise and creative approach.
The TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz watch is daring in every characteristic, having mixed classical and avant-garde features. Tag Heuer's designers created the watch so that it would reflect the timeless values of an automobile - distinctive spirit of motor-racing, performance, innovation and elegancy. The timepiece has been issued in the limited edition of 3,500 pieces, the same number as the super sports car.
The recently-developed SLR chronograph paid tribute to the continuous partnership maintained by TAG Heuer, McLaren and Mercedes-Benz. No wonder such prestigious brands have become reliable partners - they have been united by cherishing the common values - irreproachable performance, appealing design, prestigious well-established reputation, constant introduction of innovative ideas, and, most important, true passion for auto-racing.
The TAG Heuer SLR watch was aimed exclusively at Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren drivers. The beginning of the story about SLR Watch and TAG Heuer- Mercedes-Benz partnership was marked by the year 1955. Juan Manuel Fangio drove the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR "Silver Arrow" victoriously in the renowned Mille Miglia racing. The driver wore a TAG Heuer watch on his wrist that very day - the tradition followed by every Formula One driver.
The SLR Watch's Specifications
There two eye-catching logos, the TAG Heuer shield and the Mercedes-Benz star, are featured at the black dial. If you take a close look at the watch's traditionally-designed dial, you will surely notice that its design strongly resembles the gauges of the sports automobile. There are luminous markers to offer supreme visibility to the watch hands.
The watch demonstrates one more original detail - the off-centered date counter placed at the mark of 7:30. The timepiece's automatic movement is equipped with a specially-elaborated regulator that makes clear the movement's name - Caliber 36 Regulator. The regulator provides the functionality distinguishing a sports car dashboard - there is a special gauge for each function.
As for the time-reading, there is the hour hand in the counter at 12 o'clock position, the hand at the center of the watch's dial is responsible for displaying minutes; one more counter at 9 o'clock position displays seconds. The chronograph functions are placed the following way - the 6 o'clock counter for hours, the 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock for minutes and seconds.
The chronograph pushbuttons on the top of the stainless-steel case make the SLR watch look even more appealing and reflect the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren's incomparable steering wheel gearshift. The timepiece is provided with water-resistance up to 50 meters. There is the engraving of a limited edition number on the case-back.
The protection of the both sides of the sapphire crystal is provided by an anti-reflective coating. The graceful crocodile leather strap features a folding, push-button buckle.
