Alain Silberstein. The Scout 2007 Collection
The Designer
Alain Silberstein's personal history has been pretty unusual: this Paris interior architect and designer by profession became a watchmaker in Besancon (the capital of the Franche-Comte region) at the end of the 1980's by starting his watch company. His meticulousness and passion for perfection have been helping him to create excellent timepieces.
Once upon a time when the disappearance of mechanical watchmaking seemed to be nearly unavoidable, he joined the prestigious club of Swiss manufacturers who supported production of mechanical watches.
Less than 20 years later, Alain Silberstein has been able to prove that working hard, novelty and quality can really enable a French watch trademark to be beside the best-known Swiss watch brands.
Alain Silberstein is a dedicated and active Scout member. So he wants to celebrate the centennial of the Scout Movement in 2007 by creating the very unique Scout 2007 watch collection (a part of each sale will be dedicated to the Scouts of the World Program, a contribution by the young to improve the Earth).
The Collection
4 numbered wristwatches produced in limited series will pay tribute to the Centenary of the Scout Movement. The World Scout logo on each wristwatch is the emblem of the series. The signature of Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell (British soldier), founder of the Scout Movement, is hidden someplace on the timepieces.
Each watch will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, signed by Alain Silberstein and a representative of the World Scout Movement.
The collection will be available early in 2007.
